Has anyone heard much about this? I'm not even sure if it's started yet but sounds like it could be a really unique thing to do. I'm curious about the eating area & how it's set up. Is it picnic tables & shelters? Are you supposed to do the typical blanket setting? Do you get a reserved area when you order your picnic food & is it only open to people who order this? The only way I will not try this is if I'm out in the blazing sun, lol. Otherwise it sounds like something to check out!

Place your order at the Picnic in the Park podium located at the Island Mercantile shop on Discovery Island, between 8:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m. daily.

Pick-up time needs to be at least two hours from the time the order is placed, and you'll need to bring the copy of the order form as confirmation. The pick-up location is at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery.

Payment is due at time of the order. If you're on the Disney Dining Plan, Picnic in the Park may be used as a Quick Service Meal (requires one adult entitlement per meal amount). For example, a meal for three will require three adult entitlements.

Big Thunder!!! So good to "see" you again!!!

We actually have a post here on the boards about the picnic...

Check it out Animal Kingdom Picnic

I'd be anxious to hear about it if you decide to do it, we thought about doing it this week....right after we'd already eaten lunch!

We did this 2 fridays ago when we were there. We ordered the chicken for 3 with 2 sides and dessert. The food was all of good quality, the people at pick up were very confused!! Check your order before you leave the stand. There is alot of food here. Unless you are really big eaters, you may be able to order for 1 less!!! We will next trip.

We did this too and really enjoyed it. We had the sandwich option and they were fresh and delicious. We found a nice shady spot to picnic. The green bag you get it in is reusable and have brought it home - a nice souvenir saying 'Picnic in the Park' and 'Animal Kingdom' :)

Oh I really want to try this, it sounds good. I wonder tho, could you spend a lot of time wandering around looking for a place in one of the picnic areas because it appears it's open to anyone, not just those that order the package. Because during peak season that would stink ifyou had to roam around trying to find somewhere to park yourself.

Sorry I reposted on a topic..I hate when I do that. I was just anxious yesterday as it was my first day back ;)

Did you post any pics of the picnic area Becca? I'd love to see what they look like.

No need to apologize!! This is the place for questions...even if they've been answered previously! It's always good to "revive" an important thread for those who may have missed it the first time around!

I think I have some photos of the areas, let me look around!

We didn't have a problem finding a table. I noticed there were a lot more tables throughout AK than last visit - probably due to the Picnic in the Park.
