I havent updated in a very long time.... I honestly have no idea how to translate the medical terms into English-... and every single day we get 1 good news and then 2 bad ones so its like a roller coaster ride...

so.. let me do a sort of recap...
In Mexico there are 3 types of hospitals... private (you need to pay for a private insurance policy to be able to enter these hospitals since they are far too expensive, but with money you get service immediatly) IMSS (government owned, but you only have access if your company pays a fee and you pay a fee.... IMSS has the best doctors, but also the most patients and terrible service unless you are gravelly ill and lucky enough to be admitted immediatly) Public hospitals (the ones you NEVER want to have to visit.. they are mostly free, and therefore dont have good doctors, not enough supplies, etc... )

Anyway... my cousin had a great insurance, so Isabella was immediatly admitted into a decent private hospital..... problem being, usually the doctors there dont have as much experience as the ones in the IMSS because they obviously dont get as many cases... and also, you get assigned to one particular doctor, where at the IMSS all the dcotors in say pediatrics will check on all the patients...

Anyway.... she was admitted.. and after almost 15 days of treatment with her not getting any better, but actually getting worse.... one of her little lungs collapsed, her intestine started to bleed and we needed over 50 blood donors to cover the blood the hospital's blood bank used, her little heart stopped beating one day for 20 seconds.... you can imagine the pain and anguish suffered by all... and after 15 days their insurance ran out, because the cost was just too high... so they had to move her.

Thank God they had IMSS, and after being assessed by some doctors from the IMSS at the private hospital, and some calls to some VIPs (stupid, but thats the way it works, its all about who you know, or who knows you) we were finally able to transfer her on wednesday night to the best IMSS hospital in Mexico City (it is almost impossible to get admitted there)... she has been in there since wednesday...

now.. the specialists at the IMSS believe the pediatric doctor in the private hospital didnt do a good job... they believe Isabella's lung collapsed because the respirator was on too high and for way too long, and the medicine that apparently cause her intestine to start bleeding wasnt needed in their opinion, and the heart attack could have been caused by stress which could have been avoided if she had been kept sedated...etc...

so... as of wednesday night we are sort of back at square one in a new hospital.

However, I believe God works in mysterious ways, and as it is turning out, apparently their insurance running out (which at the moment was soooooooooo stressful just not knowing where we could move her to) has been a blessing in disguise, since she is now in the best hospital with the best doctors...

Last night she had a fever and a convulsion, however they were able to control the fever and they did some sort of ct scan and confirmed no brain damage.... as of today her intestine has stopped bleeding, but they are going to do some sort of ultrasound to see if they can determine where the bleeding occured and if her instestines have healed, and she is breathing on her own with the respirator at 20% instead of a 100% ... just as a precaution, but they are hoping they will be able to remove it during the weekend...

So.. thats a recap of the past 3 nightmerish weeks....

We are still praying for this little fighter... and Im hoping she will be home at the most by the end of this month..... hope and faith....

and so.. I didnt update because I just have been to stressed.... and didnt knwo the terms, and just didnt feel like talking about it...

Oh my gosh! You have all been through the ringer eh!
Little Isabella is definately a fighter and, if love has anything to do with her recovery then, she will be fine.
It sounds like she is in better hands now and hopefully, you'll have good news for us next time you give us an update.

Thinking and praying for Isabella. xx

Mari you don't have to apologise for not updating us, we understand how stressful this is for you and Isabella's family (and even more so now that you have told us more!)

I'm so glad she's finally where she can get some good care! I am sending all good thoughts and wishes that she continues to improve and is home very very soon!

Next trip - Bali! (March 2015)

Wow, the agony that poor little Isabella and her parents had to go through is horrible. Glad that she seems to be on the mend.
