I can't kiss this - its too lovely!!

Its in a temporary home on the dining table at the moment awaiting the 'transfer of files' from the desktop.

Thomas came into the bedroom this morning and said

' I'm just so excited about the new mac I keep sneaking downstairs just to look at it even when its not turned on' - ' can we please please learn how to use it together at the weekend'

    :D

Oh and the speakers will do us just fine , nice deep rumbling base and the film clips we watcher were fantastic.

The magic mouse is absolutely incredible though

I know I have only scratched the surface of using it so far but it is the first computer ever ( sorry Keith even including the macbook which I love) which has literally made me go WOW!

Lisa especially loves the fact that there is only 1 wire the power supply and even that looks neat and fits flush to the keyboard everything else is woireless including out printer which is upstairs.

It is remarkably thin even thinner than our other TFT monitors! and as a machine it is whisper quiet the ONLY time I could here anything at all was when it was spinning a disc.

Camera ran out of batteries last night so will post some when I get a chance won't be today though

    Chris,

Keep in mind that you can, if you wish, setup separate accounts for you, Lisa and Thomas. That way you can setup "Parental Controls" for Thomas that will allow you to do such things as restrict internet content, set limits on email, set computer usage time limits, restrict certain applications, or setup a simple interface for a specific account. The other nice thing about doing that is that everyone gets their own home directory. So you don't have everybodys files getting mixed up together. Just something to think about.

Tom (... it's all good.... real good!)

    Multiple user account tutorial here:

    User Accounts

    Parental Controls tutorial here:

    Parental Controls

There's a bunch more on those pages also.

iWork clip art??? What are you looking for? iWork doesn't really have it's own clip art collection like MS Office. They kind of rely on you to furnish your own. The good news is that I'm sure we can find you all kinds of clip art to use.

Tom (... you and Thomas can watch the videos together... Lisa can watch too. If she wants. )

Well the beast arrived this morning, perfect timing as I was working from home today.

Shipped from Shanghai on 21st, arrived oop north in UK 25th and to be honest, that seemed to be with a couple of delays. Amazing really

Got it out of the box and talk about minimalist! The unit and a small box with keyboard/mouse/disks inside. Frankly for the money I expected Steve Jobs to hop out of the box and give a tutorial.

The thing looks absolutely amazing. It's so nice and well done that I almost sigh that there's no real competition for them out there at the moment. It CANT be beyond sony/toshiba and co to come up with kit that looks this good surely?

It was so cold when it arrived that I was worried about condensation and the like so I left it for a good while. Hardest couple of hours ever!

Came to turn it on and nothing happened for the first few presses, then burst into life. Some kind of programmed in joke to worry me I guess.

I'm trying not to be all WOWSOME in case I tempt fate but it's hard not to comment on the speed, slickness and all round polish of the thing.

Rather interesting comment I read the other day about these new iMacs. Some technology reporter was commenting that with the advent of these quad core iMacs, they're now a viable option instead of the Mac Pro.

Perhaps the Pro needs updating? And better looks!

Tom (... glad it arrived Keith!)
