    Well microsofts official line is 1GB (for the 32bit version) so really 2GB ought to be fine. It's just I'd prefer 3 or even 4. To be honest though if you've been managing with 1, 2 will seem fast

    i would recommend running the win7 upgrade advisor as well, just to make sure all the hardware is compatible FD

    I definitely did that earlier. I thought that was a nice tool.

    However, I found a great deal on Dell for a new laptop for about $150 more than it would cost to buy windows 7 and upgrade both the memory and battery. So I just went for it. Merry Christmas to me!
