A coworker gave me a beautiful Ficus Tree as a housewarming gift. Currently, it is residing in our bedroom, but it doesn't seem healthy. It's been steadily loosing leaves since it came home...but that's it. It's not dry, not droopy...the leaves just keep falling off by the dozens....and it's starting to look pretty bare. I water it once a week thoroughly, it has adequate sun I believe, I'm just not sure what else I should do. :(

I'm typically not great w/ plants, but I'd like to try as I love the warmth they bring to the house....

    Any suggestions?

Don't over-water it!! Stick your fingers in the soil, if it's still damp about an inch below, don't water it, if its dry, then water it.

They need humidity too, put it in a big saucer with pebbles in so excess water will run off and create humidity, and it needs to be in a place that doesn't get direct sunlight all day, but does in morning and afternoon

I sound clever... google is your best friend LOL

You do sound clever indeed! We just added curtains to the bedroom, so maybe it was getting a bit too much sunlight...as the room is VERY sunny....so I'll see how that goes...I don't *THINK* I'm overwatering, but I'll check that as well.

    Thanks for the advice!

Ficus trees are so very delicate...don't keep it near a heating/air conditioning vent.
DON"T move it around or bump it. It will go into shock.

Um. Oops. That may very well be what's wrong with it then Bev :(

I've moved it about 52 times since I recv'd it....I'm pretty sure it's been in every room in my house...twice....while I was sorting out where to put it.

Is there anything I can do? Will it come back?

I totally agree with this! I cannot keep plants/flowers alive at all. I'm good with humans and animals though :p015:
