If I was one of those teachers I'd be seeing my boss in Court.
I childmind and the mum is a teacher. They have travelled by train from france. She was sent a txt on Monday saying to the effect of "you're not in,you're not paid" don't care what has happened, tough.Originally Posted by Dawn, post: 203158
I see now that the French and Spanish are cashing in on the plight of the stranded UK tourists by hiking up the costs in hotels, restaurants and car hire.
I really hope that one day us Brits can repay this sentiment to our EU "friends".
Jeez, the US has done more to help us Brits than our near neighbours!
Txt was sent by head teacher.!!!!!!!
I have just read that someone paid £850 to hire a car from Spain through to Calais.
Any more news on Chris and Lisa and the boys? Did they make it home safely?
Next trip - Bali! (March 2015)
When last hear they were hoping to board a plane at 11pm to Manchester (I think!) then hire car down to Gatwick. I've been in meeting throughout today so I'm just catching up on texts now.Originally Posted by kazzaqld, post: 203211
It's going to be a long night for them, and heck it's been a long week for them, but I think Chris is just incredibly relieved to get back that at the moment he'll take anything!
REALLY looking forward to getting word from him that they're all home safe
Yep as is usually the case in my humble opinion.Originally Posted by Slowhand, post: 203194
I'd far rather associate with the US than the rest of Europe, it's not said in an offensive way but I simply think as a people we have more in common
(some of the horror stories I've heard about the prices EU people are charging stranded families for food etc. well, just disgusted)
