Does the marathon in January affect the parks or anything like that? Does it close anything?

We have been there 3 or 4 times during the Marathon and have noticed very little change apart from the sizeof people staying in the hotels :D

the day afterwards we have ben told that teh Magic Kingdom becomes busier ( I guess its the one park people will do if they are only staying a weekend but we have noticed very little)

We have been for the past 7 years during the marathons. We ususally avoid the Disney parks for the few days it is on and do SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Univeral etc. We have noticed an increase in the past couple of years of marathon runners and their families staying on for the following week....they all wear their medals so they do stand out.

Also this next marathon, anyone who finishes gets free entry the follwoing tuesday to the Disney parks.

Not really. I mean, yes there is the "disruption" of the marathon, with rerouting of some parking, ect. but it's not a huge imposition.

There is an increase in restaurant bookings perhaps, but that stands to reason, eh? Also, you'll see loads more guests running the grounds.
