    We use sponges for our dishwashing. Be careful if you put them in the dishwasher for cleaning. In Florida we've found that we need to run the washer with the heat on for drying. The sponge fell from the rack onto the drying element and was burned. Fortunately we were there to smell the burning. What if we hadn't been?

    No more sponges in the dishwasher for us.

    Oh an another one that works like a charm...

    If you've spilled red wine on a carpet or other fabric, blot excess and immediately use club soda on the spill. It will bubble up the red before it can stain.

    Hydrogen peroxide works in much the same way for blood stains. (Cut my toe once and bled on the carpet... hydrogen peroxide lifted it right out). The trick to both is to be sure the "stains" are fresh and not set.
