I completely agree - I don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean come on who really believes that England could win, hmmm I don't think so!! Far too much pressure, far too over paid etc etc.

Ooo can you tell I hate football

Well I'm going out on a limb here to say

JUST WHEN DID FOOTBALL BECOME MORE IMPORTANT THAN EDUCATION!!!!

Schools closing early so kids can watch the game - yes I know it's only once every 4 years but what sort of message are we sending out. It's ridiculous.

    Stepping off soap box now.

I'm guessing maybe the powers that be think that the children wouldn't miss very much in the hour or so that they're allowed to go early? A little like finishing at lunchtime on the last day of term maybe?

Matthew didn't finish early, he pedalled home as fast as he could, watched it for a while and is now in the garden fiddling with bikes!

well our kids didn't finish early and I'm flippin glad of it too, I'd have been livid - I could understand it sort of if it was the cup final and a once in alifetime thing but for a group game - well its just not right

    life goes on!!

    I agree.
I wouldn't mind if they applied it to all sports, such as cricket / rugby / athletics etc. I don't understand why football has been singled out..

I wonder if it's a way of preventing mass absences? If they let the kids go early there's more chance they'll arrive in the first place?
