Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack! I don't care if I never get back, cause it's root, root, root for the home team, if they don't win it's a shame!

    So did they?

It's a pretty clean game. There are technical aspects, but for the most part anyone can watch and understand the gist of what is going on.

The batter stands in the batter box (which contains home plate) and swings at the ball the pitcher sends his way. Three full strikes (technical aspects enter here, not a full swing unless the batter breaks his wrist) and he's out. A batter can be walked too... If the pitcher doesn't get the ball directly over home base and the batter doesn't swing, that's a "ball" (and not a strike). Four balls and he walks to first base...

Running the bases without being tagged or thrown out will result in a home run, which is the entire point, eh? (And how the game is scored).

    Fast moving usually.

Pitchers stance, and beauty of movement on the field is a bit of the finesse of the game. He no longer pitches for the Yankees but El Duque is a BEAUTIFUL pitcher on the mound. He looks like a ballet dancer...

At any rate, more than you cared to know eh?

OOOOOH! The MOST important bit?? Having a hot dog and a beer!

Have you had a chance to see the highlights from last nights Cardinals/Reds game? You might want to change this statement.

Clean in the sense that it's not gridiron football... (In terms of if this, then that, and all that jazz).

There are very technical aspects, but nothing like some other team sports.

    They did, they did!!

The hot dog and beer(s) were especially good last night and the weather...well it was just damn near perfect. Mid 70's with a soft, steady breeze. The new stadium is truly a thing of beauty!! We enjoyed ourselves so much, we're going back tonight!! LOL!

This reminds me of the movie "Blast From the Past" with Brendon Fraiser, Alicia Silverstone, Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek. Here is the basic plot:
In 1962 an eccentric scientist (Walken) who, like so many people at the time thought that a nuclear war between the U.S. and the Soviet Union was possible, built a bomb shelter in his basement. During the Cuban missile crisis, when he thought things were going escalate took his pregnant wife (Spacek) into the bomb shelter. When a plane flying over the house lost control, the pilot bailed out and the plane crashed into their house (which made them think the bomb had been dropped) activated the shelter's locks that were designed not to open for 35 years. She gives birth to a boy whom they name Adam (Fraiser). So Adam grows up being taught and exposed to all culture up to 1962. When the locks open, they're shocked to see how the world has changed they decide to stay inside. However their supplies have run out, so Adam goes out to get some more but gets lost and is helped by a girl called Eve (Silverstone).
So during the movie there is a scene where the father tries to teach his son about baseball:

    Adam, Age 11: What's baseball?
Calvin: It's a game, son. I can explain it pretty easily. See, there's a pitcher...
Adam, Age 11: Oh, like a painting.
    Calvin: No, a pitch-er.
Adam, Age 11: Like one of mom's?
Calvin: No. There's a man who throws the ball to a man who has a bat.
Adam, Age 11: Oh! The nocturnal flying mammal?

    Pretty funny movie.
