Here's a picture for all of you. This was taken Sunday morning in a flowering bush in our front yard. We first thought it was a Pygmy Rattler but later found out it's a harmless young Black Racer.

I think that WDW is great at keeping the not so pleasant parts of nature away. Having lived in FL and also visiting WDW, I can say that the normal things that I would see in my area of FL were not around at WDW, excluding the cute geckos and love bugs. The love bugs are just annoying. An well, I like the geckos they eat other bugs. :D

The photo is large and the first thing I saw when I clicked on the link is the snake!!!

Caffeine jolt is nothing compared to that view!

Well, you should have seen the picture of the 6 1/2 foot eastern diamondback rattlesnake that they caught up in St. Augustine by the mall.

I didn't include the picture since I didn't want to panic anyone!

Tom (... hey, at least he's a "former" snake!)

Maybe we should contain all the scary photos of snakes and spiders and pigeons to ONE thread that is labeled with a warning!

    Catrancher, I'd have so croaked.

We've lived here for 7 years and I've only seen snakes once (it was two together). I consider myself lucky, but don't necessarily go out beating the bushes for them.

When I used to work in Charlotte county, we saw four black snakes (probably racers) on the upper edge of the shrubs (hedge). It was the first time I'd ever seen snakes ON bushes before... not impressed as you can imagine.

For someone who is terrified of the darn things, I think I run into them more than I should but then, I would say that wouldn't I?

I think that if you are worried about them then you look for them - so you will see them! If you just go about doing your stuff then you probably wont see them as they do tend to keep out the way of us stampeding humans!
Ive seen a few lizards, but that was on a quiet street and they were dotted all over the path!

    Pigeons?!?!? Coooo....coooo

What about alligators? Ran into a 7-8 ft one this weekend at Ding Darling on Sanibel. I was taking some pictures of some Roseate Spoonbills and I didn't even see him. My wife pointed him out to me. He was about 3 feet behind the birds.
