Steven has stopped playing piano at least for now as his teacher started to make it a bit intense for him.

But he's still interested in playing music so on Tuesday he has his first lesson

    on the Trombone.

This is on top of the violin which the whole year group are learning at school. I fear for my sanity.

    Don't Panic!

    This could be the result:

Didya notice the large, friendly letters?

Tom (... it's the getting to that stage that's hard!)

At least a trombone is portable.

We had to negotiate him down to a trombone. When he found out that brass lessons were available he demanded tuba lessons. The teacher has suggested that he try trombone though as apparently he has trombone teeth. And a tuba is 6000...

well personally, as someone who likes music, i think thats its ok for him to experience different instruments. trombone's not a bad idea......i think its a good instrument. the tuba isnt as portable as the trombone is...but i guess your already going this way: let him try the trombone and then he could think about the tuba. tuba's are expensive...can you rent one?

Yep we can rent an instrument if he settles on the tuba. County will loan him a trombone for lessons in school so we're ok while he just tries it out. If he decides to stick with it then we'll see about buying one.

We have to remember that he's only 7 still and he changes his mind every week on a lot of things.

All I have to say is I have a DH who is a drummer and a DS who wants to be just like his daddy!!
Everynight I get a 'performance' which usually ends with me screaming "Time's Up!" (usually aimed at my DH!)
Talk about your hard to travel with instruments!
