Back from Christmas with the inlaws in remote part of Devon.

Snow everywhere and NO BROADBAND CONNECTION!!! MIL has been waiting for us to arrive so that Adrian can fix it. He went through all his tests and then patiently tried to explain for the best part of three days that it was their ADSL line at fault and he could not fix it. I still don't think she believes him. Even this morning as we were loading the car she was suggesting rebooting the modem. Adrian has ordered her to make a phone call.

I must thank NORAD Dorset (Claire) for texting updates on Santa's progress so we could ensure Steven was in bed on time.

Steven surfaced at 7am on Christmas morning and did rather well thanks to Santa and his helpers.

Traditional christmas lunch was served but two things confused me. 1. boiled mushrooms and 2. is it normal to pour beef gravy over turkey?

Tried building a snowman in their garden after lunch but it was that pointless powdery stuff that won't stick together so we just ran around in it. Highlight of my day was a woodcock flying overhead.

Evening meal was cold turkey and bread and pickles.

Boxing Day we took the dogs to Bude for a run on the beach. Frozen sand was interesting.

Lunch was cold turkey and bread and pickles.

    Afternoon spent reading.

Dinner was cold turkey and bread and pickles.

Snuck to bed early with a book and some grapes.

Drove home today - took nearly 6 hours but happy to be back in the land of vegetables and stable internet connection.

There are photos on facebook - will put some on here when I get the chance.

Willow doesn't like wearing a coat. She has a hi-viz jacket for night walks though.

Ewwwwwww..... I'd have been dying for ANYTHING else by then! I can tolerate turkey the first time around, but I cannot stand it leftover. I don't know how you survived! You need to treat yourself with something wonderful and decadent.

We have beef gravy with most things - not keen on the other gravies! But boiled mushrooms - nope, that is quite odd.
We had that powdery snow too, meant we dont have a snow man but we have a snow splat with eyes and a nose!

I used to always be up early when I was younger! One year my Sister and I set the clocks forward by two hours so we got up at 4am but my parents thought it was 6am
