    Wow Chris,

    He is a bright boy!

Do not feel bad about wanting the best for your child. If he gets too bored he will get disruptive, and that doesn't help anyone. They don't have them in Queensland, but in New South Wales they have special schools for gifted kids which are public and there are no fees. Shame they can't have that in the UK too.

e rings a vague bell - but my supersmart DH has gone to work so I can't ask him, he would say oh yes it's blah blah blah - don't you remember I love that he is so smart, it's very appealing. So your boy will probably find a woman who thinks smart is sexy too!

You don't want to live in the castle?

What if Thomas grows up to be in charge of all Disney parks? :207:

Well done Chris I think what you are doing is wonderful and completely right.

Our friends were in the same situation their local school was terrible, poor exam results, drug problems you name it :( They are in a fortunate position that they are quite well off, so they decided to go down the private school route and also look at a grammar school which is about and hour's drive from their house.

It took them ages to find schools and I think the eldest took entrance exams for 4 private schools and then the exam for the grammar school. She passed every exam and came top in 3 of the private schools. The good thing about that was she was awarded 3 bursaries and there was a reduction of between 60% - 75% on the school fees depending upon the school, if she took up the placement.

Her parents opted to send her to the grammar school in the end as they have 3 girls and the eldest two are both at the same school now. The youngest goes to a private school and she is much further along than the other two were at her age.

So when you look for schools, see which ones offer bursaries, it might help a little bit

If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together.......
there is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is, even if we're apart...... I'll always be with you.

A friend is a hand that is always holding yours,
no matter how close or far apart you may be.
A friend is someone who is always there and will always, always care.
A friend is a feeling of forever in the heart.

Ooh definitely check out bursaries and scholarships. Some schools offer scholarships if there's a talent in a particular subject. He appears to be quite good at maths.

    thanks Dawn :D

His Piano and violin teacher have also suggested we apply for a music scholarship as well somewhere - so we will keep on looking - most places are shut at the moment due to the hols.
