I was in Starbucks this morning :D Anyway they have a jar on the counter with change in it. This morning it suddenly occurred to me that it might be there to put my loose change into. I've never ever tipped in a coffee shop before. They do no more than in McDonalds really - take my order and make my drink.

Am I supposed to put money in that jar? Do you?

It would never have occurred to me to tip in a coffee shop.

I'd always thought it was the penny pot to help people make up change

Caramel Macchiato got me through the last 3 days

Nope. I don't tip at counter service regardless of what they do... they get paid a fair wage, unlike servers at full service restaurants.
