Universal Orlando Resort announced Wednesday they will be bringing a 36-hole miniature golf course to City Walk by early 2012.

The course, creatively named, Hollywood Drive-In Golf, is being designed by Universal’s creative team and they said the two state-of-the art 18-hole courses will be unlike any other mini golf experience.

“We created Hollywood Drive-In to be fun and different and something everyone can enjoy,” said Ric Florell, senior vice president and general manager of resort revenue operations. “We used creative theming and state-of-the-art technology to take the experience to the next level. It’s perfect for Universal CityWalk – whether you are playing at 11am or 11pm.”

The course is described as being inspired by the classic drive-in movie era.

Golfers will find themselves submersed into an environment based on the vintage horror flicks and “little green men” science fiction films of the 1950s.

The courses are appropriately named “The Haunting of Ghostly Greens” and “Invaders From Planet Putt,” and as the golfers are playing, they will pass through a cemetery, under a giant spider, through a flying saucer and into the basement lab in a haunted house.

The courses are including interactive elements and special effects.

Guests will be able to play both night and day because it will be edged with LED lights.

I think It will still be popular - you don't get much spare time at Disney but folk still play their mini golf courses. This new course won't be in the actual park.

Never ever tried mini golf before myself - always would prefer to be in a park Am I missing out on something?

Mini golf is great and they are good fun for all. we did one of the courses at Disney by the dolphin hotel when we were last in Florida.
If you're having a day at one of the water parks it could be something to do before or after you go.
