Could the Grand Floridian finally get a DVC villas?

A permit application was filed with Orange County within the past week:

STOLport installation of trailer compound for Grand Floridian Villas project.

The STOLport is a former airplane landing strip located on the eastern side of the roadway leading up to the Transportation and Ticket Center. STOLport has been used numerous times in recent years as a staging area for Magic Kingdom-area projects including construction of the Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

Rumors of a Disney Vacation Club addition to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort emerged in March 2011 when Disney applied for permits with the South Florida Water Management District. The enigmatically-named "Project 2011-1" bears a striking resemblance to Disney Vacation Club villas in images and drawings accompanying the permit application.

Disney representatives would not confirm any immediate plans to expand the Grand Floridian Resort.
