Took Steven here today -> http://www.amberleymuseum.co.uk/

And it's one of those rare places that allow full access for dogs. :D

The place is awesome. It's built on the site of a disused chalk quarry and it's a working museum demonstrating all those old crafts that we don't have anymore. We saw a broom maker and a wood turner amongst other things. Lots of hands-on stuff for the kids to play with, and rides on an old bus and an old train. And Willow could go everywhere except in the restaurant (we had a picnic). Definitely recommend it for a day out if you find yourself in West Sussex.

Pictures. Apologies for the quality but I had to mostly do this while holding the dog lead in one hand.

We started by using the dog eyes to light up the hillside trail.

View across the south downs from halfway up.

And right at the top you can see the quarry walls and the museum buildings at the bottom.

Steven found a lime kiln. They used to burn chalk and coal on site to make lime.

In the roadmaking museum we found this old roadsweeping machine. The dog was scared of it so hopefully this picture will come in handy if she trangresses anytime.

They don't do anything by halves in Dorset.

Our view through the front of the train - we sat next to the driver. :D

Steven finds a little choo choo.

    Bricks in the pottery yard.

    A big generator.

Steven plays match the plug to the socket in the electricity hall.

Strange washer woman. I want to say Teresa but I'd get a slap.

    Steven making static electricity.

    Willow waiting for her lunch.

    Steven eating his lunch.

Great pics Dawn.....you sure are getting out and about during the hols.
Awe.....although I laughed when I saw the old roadsweeper I just want to give your dog a cuddle.....one of my dogs used to be frightened of brushes too and would half attempt to go to them before bouncing back and barking.

LOVE that second photo, great views!!!

Strange washer woman indeed. Are you sure she didn't have a "second profession" perhaps?

    And in the communications display...

Steven as a telephone operator. It was really cool - you can connect phones to each other around the hall. It was beyond the grasp of a 5 year old though.

I used to use one of these in my first ever job - it's a telex machine.

Keith connecting the disneysecrets site to the internet.

Steven checks out the price of petrol at the old pump. It was 1/3d a gallon - 23p in real money.

Anyone want to admit to ever owning one of these?

Water pump. Speaks for itself really.

I'm sure I saw a snack in here.

    And finally...

Well we're not quite ready for Hogwarts yet are we son?

    What a great day! I still can't get over what a little boy your baby is now. :sigh;

Was there a fee, Dawn? Willow surely seemed to have a nice day too!

    What was the picnic lunch?
