    You can. But then you've got to wait for delivery.

    Go to the Apple store and you can take it home with right then. Instant gratification and all that.

    Just don't forget to take your student id with you!

    That's true. Don't forget student id.

    Even though I want to start using it right away I don't know if I should keep it on the box since I will be moving in about a month. Not sure if I could have it and not use it.

    Keep the box and slide it back in there for the move

    The apple store experience is a good one and if you book a time with them they may even help give you an introduction and even help you move your files from your netbook/laptop or whatever

    Keep box.
    Put back in box.
    Move.
    Simple.

    After all, it's practically wireless except for the power cord and maybe a network cable. Unless you've got wireless. Then it's only a power cord. Easy enough to put back in the box.
