Monday night myself and dh went to see Bon Jovi in concert at Ashton Gate in Bristol. We were in the gold circle, had the most brilliant view and i got some ok shots of the man himself *swooooooon*. Anyway, its made me really think about the photos i couldve got if i had a decent camera.
I have no idea where to start, which make, what im looking for etc - so i thought id give you an idea of what i want and all you lovely people who know what you are on about can help me! :D
Soooo, my budget is 450 max. I want a good zoom, one of those settings that puts the main thing in focus and the rest in soft focus, and id like a sports setting so when i take a photo of my 4 year old charging around shes not just a blur! How technical am i?!

Looking forward to seeing what you recommend! Thanks for your help!!

The dslr is a larger camera Kate, I think you would be better with a compact with a large zoom. There are a few on the market at the moment and Chris is looking for a new one for me. I'll ask him tonight what he thinks, he was talking about a Canon one that has a good zoom and it's not a silly price.

Sorry I can't be much more help than that at the moment, I'll speak to him tonight

I was thinking for you one of those point and shoot cameras with the mega zooms as well. I have heard some of them are pretty decent.

    Nice :D

I think Kate wants something a bit smaller maybe something like a sureshot but with a 10x plus zoom.

Kate what camera and zoom do you have now?

a smaller one would be http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Prod...Shot_SX230_HS/

    or the older SX220

Let me just say this though. If you stick to canon/nikon/panasonic/fuji you're going to get an amazing camera. They've all got different feels and that's the main difference. The actual image quality is so similar that you won't care.

So the main thing is go to a store, have a real look and play with them all. See which feels nice in your hand, which menus seem fast and so on. Once you've decided on that, you can then look online and get it more cheaply :D
