last week i received an appointment to go see a specialist at papworth hospital for an assessment/discussion for a heart and lung transplant. i know its just an assessment but now all this is just getting a bit overwhelming and seems too real for me right now, too much to take in, to say its scary is an understatement. i know ive still got plenty of scope left in my new drug for it to come to that but even so. i also received a results letter from my consultant cardiologist and ive taken steps backwards looking at the info on it, not fully understanding it but i know when something isnt right, so they are pushing my dosage up a bit quicker than its been of late. my liver is still swollen so ive been prescribed a much stronger diuretic.

it works and theres no need for the transplant

The thought of a heart and lung transplant must truly be overwhelming.

I know a person who had a lung transplant (and pancreas I believe) and he is a new person today. He was a very fragile diabetic who really didn't have much quality of life. He is no longer a diabetic because of the transplant, and has such improved health that he says he is "normal for the first time ever."

So, as extreme as it may seem (and yes, it is an extreme measure) it really could be one of the best things you could do.

it's an enormous amount of information to understand and accept. Hopefully it won't come to that, but it's good to know every option available and to be accepted on the transplant list

When you live with an illness, you do get to know when things are "different" the larger dose helps you

I hope your liver picks up soon, I know it's not the same, but mine has improved and the function tests are getting better. Don't give up hope Mick
