Disney have appointed Claire Bilby as their new senior vice president of the Disney Vacation Club.

Ms. Bilby was appointed by Disney after Disney fired the previous president Jim Lewis as well as two other executives. Financial difficulties concerning Aulani, a Hawaiian-based Disney resort set to open soon, may have lead to the dismissal of the executives and appointment of the experienced Ms. Bilby to the position.

Ms. Bilby's career with Disney dates back to 1998. Since that time, she's worked on both coasts in marketing and in sales. A memo released to DVC employees had this to say about Ms. Bilby:

Claire brings to Disney Vacation Club an impressive track record in global sales, as well as an inspirational leadership style and innovative thinking. Her many accomplishments include helping to launch several Disney theme parks around the world and serving as a key leader in the successful 50th anniversary celebration for Disneyland Resort.
At present, Disney has suspeneded sales of time share units for Aulani, though it is still marketing for units in Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas and Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. A revitalization of the Grand Floridianmay also result in future time share options. The DVC has 4,000 employees plus more than 475,000 individual owners.
