I've tried loads and these days, even the cheapy ones are getting pretty good if I'm honest.

However, I've always stuck to the bose quiet comfort range and I've not found anything better

Herself has a pair of Bose. They are really, really nice. I've used them on flights with great success. She got them because of a co-worker! LOL. The situation has since resolved itself, but the woman was really obnoxious, so noise canceling was the gracious way "out."

We've only ever tried Bose though so can't comment on any other type.

On our recent flight out to Vegas for my DW's sons wedding, I counted no less that 11 pair of Bose Quiet Comforts on our flight.

    Must be something to them.

I don't own any, but if I were to buy some they would be BOSE.

Chris bought some Bose headphones years ago, I didn't want any as I didn't think they would be worth the money. On the trip over, I tried them, I bought some in the Bose shop at Premium while we were there It because it cancels out the noise, the movies, and music sound much better as you don't have to have turned up as much.

A friend has some Schure (?) noise cancelling and after borrowing mine, she bought some Bose.

I can't recommend them enough and I think they are worth every penny

    Let me add one thing.

While I don't own the Bose noise canceling headphones, I do own a pair of Bose earbuds. I've never been able to find ear bud type headphones that I could wear for more than 5 minutes at a time. All the dozens of pairs I've tried have all hurt after a short time. After reading many reviews on the Bose earbuds, I went ahead and bought a pair. They were ungodly expensive. However, if they ever break or need replacing, I'll do it in an instant. These are the only earbuds I've ever been able to wear comfortably. I can sit there with these on for hours at a time and never even notice them. And the sound out of them is perfect.

If they're any example of what Bose has to offer and I needed a pair of noise canceling headphones, I'd pop for the Bose ones in an instant.
