Really wanted to get a shot of the little chap all curled up before he stretches out and now we are at day 6 time is running out.

    The excuses ;)

Never had a go with the paper before

    Only got my flashgun

He is sleeping most of the day

He is pretty yellow at the moment

    Insects like white paper apparently

Cutting it on the lawn covers it in a) grass and b) insects

Cutting it on the lawn causes a) snow blindness and b) tourettes as it rips /creases

Laying over the sofa in the sunroom causes a) creases and b) tourettes

When I am kinda prepared Ben needs a) feeding , b) winding , c) feeding again, d) nappy changes

This then sends him to sleep again

    I don't know what I'm doing

That said I still love this one :) but I get to look at this as a father rather than a photographer :)

White balance is off a little but as I said he is jaundice at the moment so I went a little 'blue' ;)

Another way to get around it would be

    Untitled by Sidleydoc, on Flickr

More on the flickr if you click either of the above

OMG Chris, they are lovely, he is gorgeous :D

You may be looking at them as his Daddy, but I think they are brilliant

Wish I lived nearer we could do a shoot! I love newbies! Such a beautiful baby

Have you had a play with the white balance? Maybe try him on some different colours, I like black, even for babies and natural light is much better for their skin tones. Put him in front of the patio window to maximise the light. Id run a very light portraiture over too, just to soften the skin slightly.

Or you could try downloading an action, MCP does a photoshop pack for newborns which includes a specific jaundice one.

Thanks Julie. Will have a play sometime. Shame we don't live closer, you could teach me a load I'm sure. Not sure what portraiture is help ?

Was taken with as much natural light as possible. The flash was with a soft gel on it.

Will try lots of different things over the coming weeks. Only has 10 minutes today. :D

I'm sure youre busy lol, I think try natural light, portraiture is an plug in for photoshop, it smooths any skin imperfections although it can be over done IMO. If you want to email me a couple I'd be happy to run it for you see if you like it or not

Hmm had a quick look on the Mac and the photo is vastly different in iPhoto to how it looks on Flickr. Not blaming my tools you understand ;) , but somehow in the compressn and upload a lot of the contrast and color seems to have gone.

You will think I'm mental but I like the skin blemishes , to me they are all part of the stage he is at, just like everything else the ETN will fade soon never to come again and I want these as much on the record as everything else, but then I'm strange ;)

He's jaundiced? Here they'd put the poor little mite under lamps and keep him in hospital.

He is beautiful, isn't he, Doc. :D

I love all the little wrinkles!! It makes me sad that I don't have little naked pictures of the kids when they were new :( I'm not sure why we never did them.

    He is perfect!!
