We heard a few of those comments...though admittedly that was after several healthy shots of tequila ;-)

Enjoyed it all very much. Especially loved the bit with Rowan Atkinson ;). Maybe could have done without the very large sleeping baby at the end of that one segment, though :) a bit creepy!

Am waiting (not so patiently) for photos from Dawn and hoping she is having an incredible day!

You weren't the only once, I gave up and went to bed after the lighting of the flame. I was very disappointed, it was all too hectic and manic for me and I obviously don't have a traditional English sense of humour

I can see that, I wondered the same think. I asked Chris who the heck he was supposed to be I should imagine it was very confusing for people over the world.

Didn't get to watch the opening ceremonies last night and am soooooo sorry I missed them. Now I'm going to have to wait until the IOC gives it blessing for a video version.

However, this morning I found someone on Vimeo who had evidently skated around the IOC blackout on such things and my DW and I got to see the Queen and James Bond bit all the way through.

    Brilliant!

    Stark, raving, brilliant!

    And so definitively British!

As my DW said after seeing it. Nobody will ever top that one!

Tom (... now I gotta find the whole thing on video somewhere...)

What time is her session Chris? Want to make sure I see the same event as them! That's if I can wrestle the remote control off my MAMIL!

There is a lot of criticism over the choice of who lit the cauldron. I thought it was a good touch and it probably would have been too hard to chose just one person, it was perfect.

I didn't really have any interest in the olympics but last night's ceremony was really something special.

yeah I mean there'll always be criticism and that's fine and to be expected. I scanned through the twitter comments this morning and there was nothing that stood out as anything more than a subjective "well I didn't like that". Everything seemed to work well and it was very British. As you say the lighting was very well done indeed.

The flag march went on forever, but then it always does.

All in all I'm pleased that it went so well and that we didn't get any technical hitches letting the country down.
