We have had a rabbit coming in our garden for a while now, he lives in the house at the back of us. Chris went round to see them because the rabbit was in the road and nearly got run over by a car and the woman couldn't care less, she just said he'll be ok. I've spoken to some neighbours and they said that there used to be 2 rabbits but one disappeared and we're wasting our time with them.

I've been putting out a little food and water for him and he seems to always come back into our garden around this time of day. Mornings he is in the front street, luckily we live in a cul de sac so there isn't that much traffic.

It's torrential rain outside and I've covered over a sun bed so that it is dry but the grass is still wet and he looks so sad. I don't know what to do for the best

I've been looking at the price of hutches, but he's not mine and also he can get in and out of our garden under the trees somewhere so I guess you could say he's free range

What shall I do, if I make up a temporary place for him to keep dry do you think he will use it, I could put the plastic lid of a storage box on the grass, line it with newspaper and put straw on top

I am so angry with his owners

Hmmm, tricky one. Does he look neglected? (Thin or uncut claws) If so, you might want to consider the RSPCA.

He's not thin but he is very grubby now, I would think he has a hutch but whether or not he sleeps there I don't know He is always eating our grass, I put some veg out for him as well and he has a dish of water.

I was going to buy I buy some Timothy hay for him and pellets, although I won't give him many of them as too much will make him poorly.

Chris said I'm getting too attached to him

Maybe I should call the RSPCA :(

They'll only get involved if he's obviously being mistreated. You may have to just let it go, although you can pop out a bit of food.
    You know Chris is right.

If they aren't taking good care of him, then I would call a rescue place and have him picked up!!! He may not be underfed, but he is being put in danger by being allowed to roam free!

If it was me, I'd just keep the bunny since I can't say no to any critter that needs a home which is why I have had so many animals over the years I suppose

i think he is being neglected, he is a domestic animal and is being allowed to roam free and it at risk from being run over or attacked by other bigger animals. I'd ring the RSPCA

This is most definitely a case of neglect but whether or not the RSPCA will think so, will depend on whether or not they have a camera crew with them!!! (Don't get me started!!).

What I am going to say next is probably a horrible thing to say, but an animal's life is at stake and I don't think that is any life for a rabbit. I think I'd be taking him to the vet to have him scanned for a microchip (whilst pretending you don't know where he came from!) and see if they will place him with a rescue.

I have to say I agree with Josh. It should not be running free.

I will speak to someone tomorrow, thank you

I've been out tonight and bought some straw. Chris has put together a shelter and I've made a bed of straw, so that he will have somewhere tonight if he comes back into the garden and it's raining.
