My very first trip to LA was January 1967. I left DC where the temperatures were in the 30's and it was snowing. I arrived in LA and the temp was in the 80's. I wanted to stay. BTW, that was Super Bowl I weekend and I was there with seats on the 40 yard line. :p015:

Those pics are great Becca, thanks to you and Johnie for sharing!

I wish I could go to the beach right now - but once we get over August it should start warming up!
Next trip - Bali! (March 2015)

So that's why it was in the 50s in mid-June when we were on the football field practicing for graduation! You stole all the heat in January! ;)

I don't know if there's a specific reason at Marilyn's but I can think of a couple of traditions that may explain it. 1) the leaving of a small stone or coin to tell those who follow that others have visited the grave 2) a request to the spirits of those who have passed on in the hope they will help grant a wish to the living

    thanks for the photos!

I also found this, which given her notoriety would make sense....

Some people will leave a penny on someones grave - particularly someone of some significance - as a means of leaving a token of thanks to that person. This is the same realm as leaving flowers or other tokens on a grave.

The Santa Monica pier area is very nice. The traffic on the PCH is from he...well, you get the idea.

The drive through there is very scenic though and the canyons add even more. Mulholland Drive will take you up through the areas where there are a number of nice opportunities to drive through some of the canyons exist.

Need a ragtop though to really enjoy it!
