Ok peeps here's a question for you!

I've just had half of my garage converted into a workroom. We've had a stud patron wall put up, insulated, plasterboard and plastered walls.

We've had a 600x600 radiator put in too.

My query is flooring. At the moment it's just a concrete floor. What suggestions would you have for flooring?? Ideally it needs to be warm in there as I cant let icing/fondant etc get too cold.

I've just been googling but I haven't a clue and we don't have a lot of money to some on flooring.

    Thanks :)

Have you considered using carpet tiles Lisa?
They could easily be washed if they get grubby, although I`m not sure about what their cost is as it has been ages since we bought any.
Failing that, how about asking a local carpet supplier to see if they have any end of roll pieces which they normally sell off cheaply.

I did think about carpet, but it needs to be hygienic and washable as its a wok room for my cake business. We'll probably go with vinyl floor titles but its knowing what to insulate underneath with to keep it warmer.

I don't know the first thing about flooring, but whatever you choose, will it be over concrete? (Our garage floor is concrete).

There is a heavy paper like material that you could lay down prior to putting in the floor. That would help some, I think.

You might be able to put the felt like fibre that they put under wood flooring, that would make it warmer.

It will have to be vinyl or other washable surface otherwise if you get inspected they will pick you up on it. Well done on being able to do it professionally it was the regulations that stopped me as we don't have anywhere for me to convert.

I'd love to see some of your work :D
