If i'm cooking a US recipe and it says 3/4 of a cup - how much would that be in UK measurements please?!

It depends on what dry ingredient you are using - the cup weight of flour and sugar will be different. I use the site that Tink has given you, but better still, I have invested in a set of US cups for most of the recipes I use from the Allrecipes website. I also like the fact that that website has a conversion option from cups to metric.
A set of cups will cost only £4.66 from Tesco.
