All that alliteration calls for a Friday thread, don't you think?

WHEW!!! It's been a long week. I'm more than glad to see that it's Friday.

I've been called by the daughter of a former secretary of mine. Her Mom (J) is in hospital as a cause of neglect at her sister's hands. She was beside herself with sorrow (I could barely understand her) and asked me to come. I'll be visiting J on Saturday. Not sure what I can do at this point, but the daughter who called me is hoping I can speak with J and convince her to take legal action. Our system here for protecting vulnerable adults is disgusting. I won't go into the (truly horrific) details but the condition in which J was brought into the ER is truly criminal. It seems none of our protective agencies including the police will do anything about it. :( We'll see...

Other than that, Sunday is "Super Bowl Sunday." That means I get to eat good food (that is bad for me :D ) and fall asleep in to a football game that I don't care about one bit. :D I will be cheering for the Ravens though, regardless. Our Super Bowl Sunday fare includes this divine focaccia that I found at La Douce France that I'm going to turn into a huge sandwich of cold spicy meat and cheeses. :D Not sure what else yet, but it's a good excuse to eat unhealthy food. Oh, and watch funny commercials. :D

I am also hoping to be able to get some sleep. Wouldn't that be nice? This week has been unusually stressful so I'm sort on rest because of it. I'm hoping to get through today without anything new and miserable to deal with.

The weather is iffy. Maybe we'll get a chance to poke around a park. I think it's time we tried to check out the new Fantasyland.

So then? What are you doing? How has your week been? Any wonderful plans? (Resting and relaxing are wonderful plans to me)!

OH GEEZ!!!!! Can't help you as I've never been.

Not nearly in the same category, but I'll be out of the office Monday and Wednesday of next week for training in a new system and conference too. And yep, slipped my mind.

I don't have to pack though, or travel to a different country (unless Kissimmee counts as a different country). :D

I can't believe it's February already, where is the time going.

I've had a very quiet week, Chris has been away so I've been home alone Some people like it, but I don't and it's been particularly horrible this time because of my knees and lack of mobility. The good news is that they are being allowed to leave early, so at 12pm he will be on his way home, if the roads are clear, he should be home by 4.30pm :D

I'm trying to think of something nice to cook for dinner tonight, I'm torn between lasagne and salad or crispy chili spicy beef with rice. Hhhmmm decisions, decisions

As far as this weekend is concerned, we have nothing planned at all. I thought he would like a relaxing weekend after his course this week. We might visit friends on Saturday night as we haven't seen them for a while, but it will depend on how mobile I am.

Keith how could you forget Las Vegas where are you staying and will you have time to play :D

Tink, just think 2 days of not having the long drive to work

Staying at Caesars Palace and yep there'll be ample time to play!

I quite fancy seeing the grand canyon although how, bus, plane, helicopter etc. I've no idea.

Jay Leno is doing a show and he's good with stand up, there's penn and teller erm erm Rod Stewart is doing a show at Caesars itself too.

I'd really like to find some great restaurants too

Don't know if there's any great shopping options. I think the massive mall place they were building out there fell through didn't it? hmmmm

In other news, i've managed to book a premium economy seat upstairs in the bubble for our May Disney trip. Hoping that's ok even with economy up there ;/

Wow! January has flown by hasn't it? It has been a tough month for us here as we have had the really heavy snow that the rest of the UK has had, and it settled at around 18 inches for a couple of weeks. So we have mostly been getting used to dealing with our first year of having a paddock and a few outdoor animals in the snow and cold. It has been a tough learning curve. This week the thaw has started, which has left us with the delightful exchange of snow for the deepest mud. So this weekend will be spent doing all of the outdoor jobs we couldn't do in the snow. like cleaning the chicken coop, and the stable (a humungous job!) and clearing away the remains of the field shelter roof that collapsed under the weight of the snow. Hopefully we will get some relaxation time in the evenings in front of the fire with some good food and wine. Socialising is not on the agenda! We will be too tired! Sometimes I don't know how I cope with all this glamour in my life

Wendy, that's a long week on your own when you're not feeling great. I know what that's like It'll be lovely to have Chris back!

i've had a bit of a manic week but got my passport out for a trip to Glasgow for the weekend, picking Caitlin up from school then going. Hopefully be there by 10 The reason- men in lycra track cycling at the brand new Sir Chris Hoy velodrome- ready for the 2014 commonwealth games! I'm hoping/praying that the main man is there- to get a photo with him would be amazing!! My brain is fit to burst this week with all the new stuff i'm learning- visited my first placement yesterday and it's a stroke ward- bit scary but i really like working people who have had strokes so should be good.

Tink, we treat our vulnerable adults appallingly here too, sometimes i think people just don't care. I know how soul destroying it can be to see it, your former colleague knew the right place to come though. Wendy- hope your knee is a bit better soon Keith ...viva las Vegas!! buffets are my big tip. Deb- hope the snow is over for this year and that the menagerie is well.

Tink, very sorry to hear of the appauling treatment that poor soul had to endure. Hopefully some good will come of it...maybe get the guilty parties to shape up. One can always hope.

    Wendy, hang in there kid...

Keith ....safe trip my friend...if you get there early enough...place $5 on the Ravens to win.

Brit...have fun. Oh don't forget the binoculars!

DD Alex was coming home to let us borrow her car for a while. DW Sally's Audi A4 went the way of the do do I think. I believe the heads on the engine are cracked..so major repairs...may not be worth it.

So on the way home Alex calls to say her car has broken down. Thankfully it was at a brightly lit Wawa store AND she was following her roomate home. Had the car towed to a local Honda dealer. I am waiting to hear from them. She arrived safe and sound last night. I guess it went about as good as it could.

Have two super bowl parties that we will make appearance at. Other than than..a quiet week. Guess somewhere along the line we will be heading up to Johnie's neigborhood to either get the repaired car of get another used one...oh well easy come easy go

So Brit, I didn't realize Scotland was a foreign country requiring a passport. ROTFLMAO.

Keith have a great flight to LV. Is your DW going with you?

Donna and I went out to our local Cracker Barrel for breakfast this AM. Tomorrow I'm off bright and early to join some work colleagues at the Washington Auto Show. Sunday it will be shopping for groceries and the Super Bowl. Go Niners.
