I have always paid for our cruises in US dollars, normally making a reservation whilst on board in order to benefit from the discount that DCL offer for this approach.
Off the top of my head though, the prices you have been quoted inclusive of the transfers and on board credit don`t seem too bad.
You could always check the prices via the DCL website to give you an idea of where you stand Jeff, and it may be less expensive to book directly with DCL and then factor in the cost of getting to and from the port.

I have managed to haggle for discount with another company so came up with 1519 including all transfer and flights and deluxe inside room which is costing us 30 to upgrade.

This is with Ramsay World Travel. Not booked yet but that is where we are now!

Does anyone know what kind of protection we have when we book a cruise as I was just told that ATOL does not cover the flight as the operator is booking this separately.

I am a bit worried about this or is this the standard practice?

We visited Villefranche on our DCL Med Cruise back in 2007.
It is a really pretty town, one of the nicest places that I have visited along that coast and there are a few nice cafes alongside the harbour.
Being somewhat a "petrol head", I opted for an organised excursion to Monaco which was fantastic. We had been to the Monaco Grand Prix the year before, however we didn`t get the chance to see the parts of Monaco that you envisage, so this excursion put this right.
Prince Albert`s car museum is a "must" if you are into this sort of thing.
