Oh my goodness how sad, I wonder what happened, hopefully he will be ok.

I caught just the end of a news report about this. The boy is in critical condition (if I heard correctly) and was found on the bottom of the pool by his cousin who pulled him out of the water.

Nothing about life guards or the time of day it happened, but again I only heard a bit of it. If there is anything else on the news, I'll let you know.

Here is a bit on it. Not sure of the time, as stated in the article. The Life Guards were reportedly off duty. I think that would make it 10:00 pm.

Let's hope the child survives. Being transferred to Florida South means he needed more intensive trauma care than was available at Florida Hospital Celebration.

Of course this is terrible, and my prayers are with the family...but does anyone else find it a bit odd? The resort pools are not that deep and a 13 year old would be nearly tall enough to stand in most parts. Makes me wonder if something else is also going on.

    What a tragedy :-(

It is possible to drown in just a teaspoon of water. Unlikely but possible. I would not be surprised to hear this child had an underlying condition (that he probably didn't even know about).

This is basically what I was getting at. It's certainly possible he just drowned, but with an older child/teenager it is certainly less likely without some other factor.
