Oh dear, poor Teresa. I didn't look in the mirror for weeks... The mental damage is often worse than the physical. :(
There are a lot of support groups around, especially online. Has she not had a specialist nurse assigned? They usually give you all of the info. If not, her best bet is the GP.
    Wish her luck from me.

Hard to believe your NIH is taking such a hard stance on this Wendy. Here's hoping she can find a good support group.

You're such a caring friend, Wendy, she's lucky to have you in her corner. I'm so sorry to hear she's having a rough time of it :( Thinking of her and those who have been touched by her condition. Sending so much love and comfort to each of them. xo

Oh no, she certainly needs some counseling. I hope she or someone can be an advocate for her to get the help she needs. It is a grieving process

Wow. That's way too much for one person to handle without professional support, at least for awhile. They need to connect her to a support group. There has to be some cancer group in the area that offers group meetings and support for one another?

    Thank heaven she has you.

Teresa saw someone from Macmillan today, she said they were wonderful, they didn't fuss over her but they were just right, not too clinical, not too emotional but really helpful. She has been given information to read and also the details of a support group of woman in the area that have all had breast cancer.

She said that she doesn't feel so alone and a freak and she's not angry with me anymore for arranging the appointment for someone to call and see her. She has also been told to see her GP as he will be able to make sure that the correct procedures are carried out now that she is home.

I felt like I was betraying her trust when I contacted Macmillan but the nurse I spoke to said that it often takes someone close to make the initial move.

So I just want to say a huge thank you to you all for helping me, help Teresa
