Hard to believe but four years have passed while Alex was away at college. Where has all the time gone. She emailed me this morning. She has her last exam today and will be heading home this evening. It is a three hour drive. Can't wait for her to return.

She asked me to pray that she remembers all the information for the exam..done!!!!

Maybe a little pixie dust for a safe drive home would be nice too.

This would have been her last semester but she changed majors and has a bit more to go. She is going into the family business....another teacher

    Thanks ladies,

I have been thinking about it. Not too many years till she won't be heading home for the summer. I get a bit bummed thinking about that...the passage of time. She will be going her own way in a year or two. I like you wish the best for our kids....I also wish that she finds her life and happiness somewhere near home.

I grew up in Pennsylvania and felt that I should have stayed closer to my old home. I missed so much time with my Dad and Mom. Oh well road not taken right....just feeling a bit down.

Maybe it was Roger that posted somewhere that you shouldn't cry that it is over, you should smile that it took place. So cheers. And thanks for the PD for my kid!

Ah Dan, I know what you mean. Alysia talks about moving away. I hope not. I may have to follow!

Enjoy her while you have her Dan. We are fortunate to have one of ours locally along with his two boys. The other two and the other 8 grandkids and 1 great grandkid are all in Indiana. We'll be able to see them the end of the month.

'Skip, the passage of time does seem daunting in some ways, doesn't it? What a beautiful person she is. You and your wife have given her the very best of what truly matters. She is going to hold you always at the center of her world. Others will come into her world, and receive the gift of her love, but her parents will be the center, the force that made all other things possible.

Not too many people can say that.

Seeing you rejoice in her successes is so inspirational. You share her triumphs with us, and your love for her. Thank you.

We'll have tears with you as she moves through those monumental moments in her life; tears of happiness touched with a tinge of sorrow for the inexorable passing of time.

Your gorgeous daughter is coming home time for celebrations

There is a saying that my Nan used to say and that was, your son is your son until he takes a wife, your daughter's your daughter for the rest of your life. I never wandered far from my Dad, the furthest I lived was a 3 hour drive away, I managed for a year but had to come back to be close to him.

It doesn't matter how near or far away she is, she will always come home, even if it is just for a visit

If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together.......
there is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is, even if we're apart...... I'll always be with you.
    Winne the Pooh - A A Milne

A friend is a hand that is always holding yours,
no matter how close or far apart you may be.
A friend is someone who is always there and will always, always care.
A friend is a feeling of forever in the heart.

Thank your all for the kindest of words. Your Pixie Dust worked! She got home last night around 10:30 after our goofy GPS taking her on the scenic tour of Richmond. It was wonderful to see her and see the reaction of our family dog Cody. Cody must have really missed her as he was fawning all over. That was touching. Here is a shocker, instead of her planned visit with all of her local friends, she decided she was really worn out and wanted to go to bed.

Did a dad's heart proud! Hehe

All of your posts were so insightful and touched me very much..so thank you all.
