Anybody who's got an iPhone and wants the Monorail bing bong chime, I've put it up as an iPhone ringtone on my Dropbox site. You can find it here (link removed). I'll leave it there over the weekend and take it down on Monday. Grab quick if you want it. There's also a mystery ringtone here. It's Disney too but you'll have to be surprised. I'll leave it there till Monday also.

For those of you with iPhones that don't know how to get these sounds on your phone, it's really fairly simple. First, make sure the sound file has a .m4r extension. These are iPhone ringtones.

Then:
1. On you main computer, open iTunes.
2. Then, do one of the following:
a. Drag the sound file you'd like to have into the iTunes window and drop it there or
b. From the "File" menu, choose "Add to Library...".
3. In iTunes, choose "Tones" from the little button popup menu in the upper left hand corner of the iTunes window.
4. Your new ringtone should now be listed here. Make sure the little checkbox to the left of the name is checked.
5. Now, sync your iPhone with iTunes.
6. Try out your new ringtone!

Holler if you have problems.

Tom (... enjoy!)

You're welcome Wendy. Glad I could help.

On that subject, did you get your phone synced and your photos saved?

Tom (... just thought I'd check.)

Yes I did thank you

I don't want all my music on the phone so do I leave it to not sync automatically and then just add what I want, I've seen the tab to do it.

You do want some though. Correct? If that's the case, then you'd check the box to sync music, but choose exactly what music you actually want it to sync. Like this:

Beyond that, when you choose to the "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" box or the "Entire Music Library" box, the only songs that will actually sync there are the ones that are checked in your music library. In your library, if the little checkbox next to a song is checked, it will get synced. As long as it belongs to one of the groups you've chosen to sync (like playlists or artists). If the checkbox isn't checked, it won't. So, you control exactly what gets synced and what doesn't.
The music library checkboxes look like this:

So, deciding what to sync is really a two-step thing. In order to sync with your phone, there must be a checkmark in the box next to the song, AND you have to have indicated that a) you want to sync music, and b) if you've told it to sync either your entire library or the specific playlist, artist, etc. the song belongs to one of those things you've chosen to sync.

Just glad you found it out. Once you get used to it, it's kind of logical and starts to make sense. But getting used to it can be a challenge. In any event, glad you were able to get it sorted.

Now you can sync whatever you'd like. Even the kitchen sync.

Tom, it's so good to have you here.

So, if you don't have an iPhone, you can't follow your process for an adroid, eh?
