    Hey guys,
Off on holibobs next month and wanting a decent camera. Have an Olympus SP550 - which has an 18 optical zoom. It's an ok camera. Only had it 9 months.. But I'm bored of it and some of my pics are crap with it.. plus it didnt like getting very wet in New York back in May.

So I'm after your help.. I'm only young and I'd reaaaally like to get into photography in a big way. I want a SLR - with a decent zoom lense ( Maybe equivalent to mine ish ?) and anything else you guys suggest purlease!

    I have a budget of around 650 ?

    'elp please ?

    Hello Steven,
I would say that you want to spend as much money as you can on the lens, as the quality of your lens makes all the difference.

I shoot with a 350D and also a 30D, and with the lenses I use, the difference isn't that noticable, however when I use a 24-105mm F4 lens, and the standard kit lens (18-55mm) you notice a massive difference in quality and sharpness.

Recommendations from me would be.... Canon 1000D, 50mm 1.8Mk II lens, plus 18-55mm and maybe a basic zoom. If you would like some more info, dont be shy to ask.

    Cj.
