Just looking at the photos of the after hours at the magic and it looks brilliant!

Then I keep hearing how great the dream is.

Do the ships only do certain routes? I know some of you have been on lots of them, are they all very similar experiences or does one stand out?

Just do it Keith! Cubard currently has a 2 night for sale for 99 for 2 nights to Hamburg from Southampton in September. I think you'd like Cunard

Mmm it would give you a taster. We can drive to Southampton quite easily so 2/3 nights isn't a problem. If you look at cunard's prices then they're not actually that bad. Personally I wouldn't now go without a balcony but not bothered about being ins suite.

yeah, southampton a lot more of a trek for us but still, for a taster as you say it could be quite nice!

Terry and Tom say the Disney Dream is too big, they prefer the smaller Disney Magic.

If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together.......
there is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is, even if we're apart...... I'll always be with you.

no matter how close or far apart you may be.
A friend is someone who is always there and will always, always care.
A friend is a feeling of forever in the heart.

    Yep!

While we're going on the Fantasy next month I'd much rather it was the Magic or the Wonder. The new, bigger ships, brilliant though they are, are just too big for my DW and I. Case in point. On the Dream, the main atrium is located approximately midships while Animators Palette is in the stern. Since the ship is about 1,115 feet long, that means that you've got a walk of around 560 feet to get back there. And the walk is down a long, rather uninteresting hallway that seems to stretch off into oblivion. The Walt Disney Theatre is almost all the way forward, so if you've gone to the show and are heading to dinner at Animators, the walk is even longer. The entertainment district also is at the stern so the walk to get back there is just as bad. While all this may not sound like much, try doing it over and over again.

There's also something undefinable. The larger ships are just missing some degree of intimacy that we feel on the Magic. Again, the new ships are brilliant and if you've never been you'd be blown away and be perfectly comfortable, but to us, the Magic is like an old, comfortable pair of shoes that fit really well. You may walk a hole in sole but you're still loathe to give them up. Now, with the refit, I think the Magic is going to be even more brilliant since they're bringing some of the stateroom enhancements that premiered on the Dream and Fantasy to the Magic.

FWIW, I got a survey from DCL the other day. They wanted to know:

    • Do you use a smart phone (iPhone, Android, etc.)
    • Do you bring it with you on the cruise.
    • Do you use it to check email, browse the web, etc.
    • Same questions for a tablet (iPad, etc).
    • Finally, if the internet access on board were free, would you be more likely to bring these devices along.

Free? From Disney? I almost keeled over.

Tom (... IMHO, bigger is not necessarily better!)
