Has anyone been on this Royal Caribbean ship? It usually does European and Caribbean itineraries.

You know? I've never been on a Royal Caribbean at all. I've heard they are quite nice.

We've been on three cruises, all with Disney. We are a bit nervous trying someone new but have heard good things about RCL. This ship is 3 years older than the Wonder and Magic but just came out of dry-dock in February after a $50 million refurb.

I have been on three RC ships...Monarch, Majesty and Allure of the Seas. DW and I really like the line. The Allure was and still may be the largest cruise ship on the seas and it was really fantastic.

Yeah, I saw the video for the ship....that ball thing...not too sure about that. Kind of sad that over the years, the food on RCL (and on many others) has gone down in quality as the real money is made on there speciality restaurants. When we first went on the Majesty of the Seas over ten years ago, the service and the quality were excellent. Now after our last trip (two years ago) it was just ok. Nothing to write home about.

Have you done a Disney cruise? How does RCL compare to Disney? We don't have kids so not worried about those areas or activities.

I am planning this cruise as a 20th wedding anniversary. Right now I can get a 7 night Western Caribbean aboard the Magic for $2,200 or a 9 night Southern Caribbean (ABC Islands) for $1,400.

We like Disney because of the familiarity and that they have the strictest smoking policy at sea (my wife has asthma). We like RCL because of the price and it's going to a destination we have never been.

Hey DF...never did Disney unfortunately, but loved our last cruise on the Allure. There is an adults (re restricted to 18 Year olds +) area called the solarium on the front of the ship. There is no smoking in there and there were few areas where it was a problem save the Salsa bar. PU. We really liked that ship because of all the living trees in the outdoor atrium, the idea of having different "neighborhoods" (we stayed in Central Park region). The show "Chicago" was fantastic. There was a cool zip line (wife did), flow rider (I did) and big rock wall (we neither did). I don't think you would be dissapointed with the Allure! If you go on that one, check back and I will give you a few tips that took us a while to learn...(cool places to eat lunch, scenic spots etc.)

I was talking to someone the other day that has been Royal Caribbean many times, they thought they'd treat themselves for their anniversary to a cunard cruise on QM2 and they were really disappointed. They say Royal Caribbean every time
