Two adults staying at a value resort at rack rate during free dining is a good value, Tink. We averaged about $100 per person per day in TS, QS and snack items in October, 2006. Of course, that did include appetizers and gratuities, although we included additional tips at many venues where we received wonderful service. We didn't necessarily order the most expensive items for TS meals, either, although we selected dinner rather than breakfast or lunch ADRs, for the most part. Primarily because we don't do breakfast and really aren't ready for a serious meal at lunch time, either!
Solo would be iffy, though. As would other configurations.
Overall, I'm not a big fan of the dining plan. It was nice to try it that one time, but I don't like having to commit to ADRs six months in advance!
What is rack rate at a value now?

$82 in value season. Not sure in the other seasons--I'm thinking around $130-ish in regular season--but I could be wrong!
When we did free DDP in 2006, I think rack rate was in the 60s during value season, which is when we went.
Forgot to add in previous post that I also don't like being tied to so many TS ADRs--not just having to make them so far in advance. We felt horrendously stuffed when we did free dining, and I rarely ate more than 50% of a meal--usually less! Still lost 10 lbs--just wish it would stay off!
can you exchange say 4 snacks for 1 table service?
