That would explain why he's feeling so poorly! Has he been in hospital recently Dawn?

No but he's been on lots of antiobiotics and apparently that can make you get CDiff.

    My brother went googling...*big sigh*

Cdiff!? Well, that's going to call for a major clean of the bathrooms at his house so no one else is infected. It's quite catching. There is a simple lab test to be positive, so be sure they do that.

Pneumonia is bad enough, the poor man. Jeez. Will he take any soup?

Yes, it is most often iatrogenically caused. The miserable antibiotics are a real culprit. Be sure of the diagnosis, because it's a mountain of work to disinfect everything.

c diff is spread by spores and is heat resistant -can't remember what temp to, very difficult to get rid of as it clings to everything including stuff that can't be cleaned readily, perfect to be spread....DON'T SIT ON HOSPITAL BEDS!!! Apparently lots of us already have it within us but it needs the normal flora and fauna in our gut to be depleted to take a hold. Antibiotics do that unfortunately. Hope he's feeling better soon :)

No one should share a bathroom with someone who had been diagnosed with c diff.

Unfortunately we only have a handful of individual rooms in hospitals here Tink, most beds are in 6 bedded bays with shared bathing ;(

Even with something like C Diff?! You can't control the spread without isolative techniques!
