I'm a little biased (I work for John Lewis) but I like it.
I like that the animation is hand-drawn, I like that the gift isn't really extravagant and I like the slightly sombre feeling. I think it's that feeling that touches people most, well, me certainly.
I quite liked them both. The Tesco one especially touched my heart as we haven't had a chance to have Christmas with the whole family for several years now.

Nice both of them. I can't think of any commercials that are as nice for the season, over here. Budweiser usually does something nice with the horses, but all the rest of the store ads are blatant "buy me, buy me."
I was at Winter Garden Village/Fowler's Grove today. MADHOUSE. I can only assume, Christmas shopping is in full force now and every weekend from here until Christmas will be chaos there.
