Everyone seen it yet? what do you think, as good as the snowman one? or the little kid who's excited to give his Dad the christmas pressie?

(for our US friends, John Lewis is a very well respected department store. A bit "above the norm" in terms of quality but still reasonably priced. Every year they do a very expensive tear-jerking christmas advert which often wins awards)

i like it and I also like the M&S one however I've got a real issue at the moment about all these ads with sentimental feeling but what they're really saying is if you want a perfect life/christmas spend spend spend and you'll get it. We all know that isn't true but I think it puts real pressure on people to conform and buy the perfect Christmas. Sorry a bit bah humbug

In fairness to them though, the "magical gifts" in that advert are pretty small :) it's not like they're showing mega expensive gifts. As a store, they're always going to advocate buying things or there wouldn't be an advert ;-)

I totally know what you mean of course

I guess I find the adverts for kids toys much more grrrrrrrrr

maybe it's because of my lack of ability to be a perfect wife and mother! but agreed they are small gifts and i guess if they're given with sentiment. I've put Mary Poppins on to cheer myself up :)

I'm in heaven with at least three channels of 24*7 christmas movies always been a total christmas nutcase :D

Let's not talk about ability to be perfect though :) agreed, very few if any of us could live up to the adverts (or the christmas movies) but that's ok :)

I agree, it's nice to see them portraying something small as a nice gift. I like the sweet commercial, but waking a sleeping bear is never a good idea.

Well, I've just watched it online.... What a depressing song. :( That advert is definitely not my idea of a festive spirit.
I quite like the M & S advert, but I'm waiting for my favourite to come on. Can you guess what it is? :D

It's good, but it makes me too sad as it reminds me of wonderful Christmases with my late parents......
