So if we were to give up some days of one of our forthcoming Disney holidays to do a cruise, is it worth trying one of the 3/4 day ones?

I know from reading Toms/Terry's trip reports that 3 or 4 days will feel like we just get on and are getting off already but as a test trip perhaps it'd work ok?

What would I get in that kind of time? Would there be time for a formal evening?

We did the 3 night cruise and found it perfect for our first cruise. I had always wanted to do one, but was worried about being on a ship (titanic and all,I know, lol). The experience was fantastic, although I now know not to get off the ship in Nassau, wasn't impressed.

We have booked another for this October and can't wait

I think a 3/4 day cruise is perfect to see how you like cruising. I never thought I would enjoy it so we tested out a 3 night Royal Caribbean and it was great.

We did a 3 day one last summer as a tester and found it really short as you get off early on the last day so that doesn't really count. I would go 4 days

On the 3 and 4 day cruises, there's no "official" formal night. There's an optional "dress up" night but no formal night per se.

Tom ( ... of course, there IS a pirates night. )

We've done a 4 night cruise once before on Carnival...it's sort of like spending a long weekend somewhere...if you like it, it's just enough to whet your whistle...if you don't, well you haven't wasted half your life

We did the 3 night Disney cruise and I would definitely say do at least 4 nights. The three day feels very short as you get off so early on the last day and are packed up the evening before!

We're also considering a short cruise for our next trip!
