    Hi gang,

Well Santa brought me what I asked for. I got an new DSLR kit. DW was totally psychic picking up my totally obvious hints and got me at Nikon 3100 kit with the VR lenses. It takes awesome pictures. Now before someone throw up the Pictures Needed smilies, I can do that a bit later. I am at work (can't you tell by the amount of posts today....really someday I will get fired) and camera is at home with card. I took some really cool pictures in the snow at a state park in Pennsylvania over Christmas, and some great shots of the last sunset of 2013 at Kiptopeke State Park in Virginia.

I am totally stoked. I gave my DD Alex my film Nikon for her classes at her university and miss the genre of camera.

So did anyone else get the camera they wanted for Christmas?

oh wow how fantastic! I know I'm biased being a photonut but I just think there's nothing better than a camera for christmas. TONS to mess with + the opportunity of loads of memory photos to get used to it.

I got a few cameras to play with too...... I'm currently trying to mess and decide which is the best out of fuji x-e2 (really nice colours) sony a7r (full frame amazing resolution but silly loud shutter :/ ) nikon df (just so cool) olympus om-d em-1 (winner of camera of the year but I'm not SURE about its dynamic range, GREAT evf though)

Can't wait to see the photos, 'Skip!!

I didn't receive a new camera this year, as I still fancy my current one...but Baleigh must have quite good this year as Santa bought her a new Canon T3 bundle with an additional 75-300 lens. She hasn't stopped shooting since :)

I know she is loving it Becca. Alex got a D90 Nikon a few years ago. It was a kit with the 18 - 55 mm and 55 - 200 Nikor VR lenses. She has a gift with the camera. She has actually gotten professional pay to do our friends holiday pictures this year. I should show her stuff as she is MUCH more talented than I am. Sad news the tripod fell and now her flash doesn't work. Need to get her camera fixed. Looking for one in the Hampton Roads area now.

I think I will put some up this afternoon when I get home. It is a nice camera. Kind of a low to mid range one compared to others I see mentioned here, but the lenses are pretty fast and they are VR ones so nice.

Thanks John. Wish I brought the camera and long lens for the launch today. I had to take the picture with my iPad.

If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together.......
there is something you must always remember.
