Do you agree? I received this in my email today, courtesy of Trip Advisor. Tell me what you think of their list!

I can't comment on the ones in the list as I haven't been to any of those.....
I think the best beach I've been to is in the Bahamas, although with the speed of erosion there it may have gone by now.
Other than that, many of our local Norfolk beaches are wonderful.

Some of them look a bit ropey to me

I have been to Lanikai Beach and it is gorgeous but then most of the beaches in Hawaii are out of this world, I'm surprised some of the smaller beaches on the North Shore aren't included.

I am surprised at the beach in Swansea, Rhossili Bay, there are some beautiful beaches in Cornwall that are nicer than the photo of this beach.

I have seen gorgeous beaches in other Countries and the US, I wonder what the criteria was for the ones that have been listed.

Yes, I agree with you both. I think it's nearly impossible to choose a "best beach" as there are so many options! I personally love the shingle beaches of mid to northern Maine, which is not your conventional sand beach. I prefer windy and wild without the need to actually get shoulder deep into the water...

I do enjoy pretty beaches too, and yes Wendy I am surprised that Hawaiian beaches weren't better represented. However, I've not traveled the world so I don't have a familiarity with many other beaches.

"The Best" lists are fun, but I think it's wise to look at them as objectively as possible, eh?

Yeah makes you wonder the metric used to select them. Been to the Hawaii beach mention, but to select that from the other beaches there..eh?

I haven't been to any of those beaches listed. I too am surprised that Hawaii isn't better represented. In Europe the only beach I have been to is in Glyfada (Athens) Greece and it was gorgeous. It also isn't on the list.

In FL I like Fernandina Beach and there was a park down in Miami that was on the beach, Crandon Park I think. I haven't been there since I was 12 years old however.

John there are so many beaches that these lists are only good to draw a discussion IMHO. You are right, there are great beaches all over Hawaii, heck even here on the East Coast there are neat beaches. How can anyone say one is better than another is a stretch. I think the beach you are seated with your toes in the sand (or in rocks/pebbles/shingles for Sister Tink) currently, is ALWAYS the best. A bad day at a less than stellar beach is ALWAYS better than a day at work. hehe

I reckon that Serenity Cove at Castaway Cay should have got a mention ! [One of the nicest beaches that I have experienced for sure.]

My favourite beach is St Augustine love to walk along it with my bare feet at the edge of the water and go to beach side resturants for a burger and a cold beer
