Well I buried my grandmother today. We all wrote a little something for her that the minister read out loud to everyone so everyone could hear it before we put it in the casket with her....the casket that we upgraded. The one she picked out matched my grandfathers....she got the pink one instead....with flowers...the flowers were for us..not her...anyway here is what I had read...not just for her but for my family...
My Grandma didn’t talk a lot, but I think I understand,
So much of what she had to say, she showed us with her hands.
Her hands were always busy, with so many people she had to care for.
When food filled the house up with aromas of delight,
Her hands would always beckon us to sit and have a bite.
Grandma’s hands were talented, with yarn or cloth or thread,
The things she didn’t say a lot,she made for us instead.
Blankets and pajamas, were warmer ‘cause she made them,
When age began to take the talent of her hands away,
I think there were so many things she still had left to say.
And when we held her lovely hands in ours before she died,
We felt what she could not say, the love that was inside.
My Grandma’s words were not her strength, her thoughts she often hid,
She made, she gave, she touched our lives, with all the things she did.
So I made it thru that...and tomorrow is my first leg of my journey to Florida...I trip to Vegas to drop my daughter off to spend 2 weeks with her papa...also a little strength for me...since Ive seen my dad last (April of last year) Ive lost both my grandparents....I kinda miss my daddy...
Ill be back Sunday afternoon/evening. Then a day at work on monday (6-230), get my nails done, finish packing and then up allllllll night Monday to make sure I get to the airport ontime...Ill nap on the plane...so the plan is...we will see how that goes...
