I hate the Christmas Shoes song!! I have to turn it off every time it comes on... For a while, "Live like you Were Dyin'" by Tim McGraw absolutely killed me..it came out about a year or so before my Dad died...

For me it's "Everybody Hurts" R.E.M. and bad i know but Bette Midler "Wind beneath my wings" . Two songs from different years that both remind me of my sister, who fought and won against cancer in 88 and 91.

I don't really listen to country music simply because so much of it is so darn sad! Have you ever listened to Martina McBride??? Love her voice, but some of her songs rip me in half...

Almost any sad country song can do it for me. There is this one by George Jones called "He stopped loving her today". That is the saddest song ever! Then there is this other one about a little girl who's daddy beat her mommy, then ended up killing the mommy and himself. I think that's just called "The little girl".

    Here you go:
He Stopped Loving Her Today by George Jones

He said I'll love you 'til I die
She told him you'll forget in time
As the years went slowly by
She still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall
Went half crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all
    Hoping she'd come back again

Kept some letters by his bed
    Dated 1962
    He had underlined in red
    Every single I love you

I went to see him just today
Oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away
First time I'd seen him smile in years

    (Chorus)
    He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
    He stopped loving her today

    (Spoken)
You know she came to see him one last time
Oh and we all wondered if she would
And it kept running through my mind
This time he's over her for good

    (Repeat Chorus)

The Little Girl by John Michael Montgomery

Her parents never took the young girl to church
    Never spoke of His name
    Never read her His word
Two non-believers walking lost in this world
    Took their baby with them
    What a sad little girl

Her daddy drank all day and mommy did drugs
    Never wanted to play
    Or give kisses and hugs
She'd watch the TV and sit there on the couch
    While her mom fell asleep
    And her daddy went out

And the drinking and the fighting
    just got worse every night
Behind their couch she'd be hiding
Oh what a sad little life
And like it always does, the bad just got worse
With every slap and every curse
Until her daddy in a drunk rage one night
Used a gun on her mom and then took his life

And some people from the city took the girl far away
To a new mom and a new dad
    kisses and hugs everyday
Her first day of Sunday school the teacher walked in
    And a small little girl
Stared at a picture of Him

She said I know that man up there on that cross
    I don't know His name
But I know He got off
Cause He was there in my old house
and held me close to His side
As I hid there behind our couch
The night that my parents died

Oh she is a little powerhouse! My two favorite songs by her are Independence Day and Broken Wing.

A lot of things set me off during the past few months:

    Somewhere over the rainbow by "Izzy";
    Leave The Memories Alone by Fuel;
Hurt by Johnny Cash - this is a cover by him of a Nine Inch Nails song - its so different from the original, yet still awesome.

And Don't Go Away by Oasis is the one thats got me since I was little - because out of pure coincidence, this was playing in the background the moment my dad pulled off our drive for the last time before moving to the states, and no amount of me or my sister begging him not to go kept him here.
