Just watched a huge dust storm blowing into the Valley completely obliterate the UoP (University of Phoenix) stadium (home to NFL Cardinals). Haven't seen anything that dense in years! Potential for thunderstorms/lightning to follow it.

A local television station is covering the storm almost exclusively from its helicoptor. This is on the west side of the Valley, a bit east of Luke Air Force Base and moving north east. Hoping it misses us this time!

It was in the far west valley and not very concentrated by the time it reached this area. There is more open desert on the outer fringes of the valley--this area has been built-up for about 20 years, so we don't experience most of the harsher weather.

No photos--the dust cloud was a good 30 miles away. No rain, either. Which is making for a very dusty morning! :(

Wow..that sounds just crazy!! It must be one of those scary/amazing things to see. Dh got his degree from UoP, but we never actually saw a campus.

The only relationship between UoP and the stadium is purchased signage! Terrific advertising for them--particularly during the Super Bowl earlier this year. The actual "campus" is located in a commercial building in Phoenix on the border of Tempe. Nice building, but not exactly a typical university campus! :)
