    Managed to get the equiment out today as there was *gasp* some sun.

    Taken with a SPC900NC webcam through a Coronado PST with a 2.5x powermate.

    The flare was probably a lovely loop at some point and was in a state of collapse - have a sequence of shots to try and put into a film at some point to show it moving.

    There isn't much solar activity at the moment as it is going through a 'minimum' nevertheless this prominence is easily bigger than the size of the earth

    They are great, did you see the sunset last nigh it was really lovely, I was at work so I didn't have my camera, gutted or what.

    Thank you so much for sharing the photos. It's almost as if you can see the upper portion of the arc.
