this gives you an idea of the programme
they let you guys have this and not the chicken pox vaccine?
Well as I understand it, it's now licensed in the UK but not part of a standard immunisation package because there are concerns that it would raise the incidence of shingles in older age which would be more serious than getting chicken pox when younger.Originally Posted by PsychoAlice, post: 53047
I could be completely wrong of course but that's what I seem to remember
Here, it is being advertized that the vaccine must be administered before the child becomes sexually active.
100% without doubt get the vaccine - it could well one day mean the end of cervical cancer and the smear screening programme - which I think everyone will be grateful for.
PA - we were about to introduce the chickenpox vaccine when all the hoop-la about MMR kicked off over here - That has subsequently been found to be fraudulent and has caused no end of probles -both in terms of trust and more importantly illness amongst children who were not vaccinated. The people invlved are still being tried for it but as is the way with the press this is not seen asneearly as sensational as the inital story so it is not being covered - sorry this is my particualar hobby horse and it makes me furious.
Would I give it to my daughter - yes with bells on :D
Any more questions drop me a PM
